My tenet review

My tenet review

Christopher Nolan's Tenet showcases new release date on two posters

Intro: A line from the movie: don't try to understand it feel it.

Me: I should've listened to the warning.

Tenet: This movie is centered on a CIA agent called the protagonist, he is chosen from a mission to prevent War World 3. This mission becomes difficult because it involves time manipulation. So he goes to a secret organization called tenet to figure out how to use time to work for him?

I agree this is a mind-blowing Bond film, just not in a good way. I understand why this movie got mixed reviews because the movie can be head-scratching. It's not that I can't grasp the concept of time inversion it's just that it raises more questions than answers and it opens up a can of plot holes. Gravity should have played a bigger role in time inversion. The movie even acknowledges that it doesn't know all the time paradoxes. The explanation we get would have helped if we understand what people are saying in the movie. How time works in this movie eliminates any stakes in the movie. This movie has the same issues as the other Mr. Nolan films as far as no characters, fights scenes are shot too close for the most part, the movie demands your full attention and it has no humor in it. Well, it does have jokes but they fell flat. Why is Michael Caine in the movie if he only has two minutes of screen time?

The protagonist is a stander CIA agent. That's sad because there is a scene in the movie where we could have gotten inside his head but the director didn't take advantage of it.

Neil is kind of a laidback character who helps the protagonist. There are times where he feels like the main character because he knows more than we think.

Kat is the main villain's wife, she's a character stuck between a rock and a hard place. The creators tried to use her to add emotional weight to the movie however it doesn't work if all the parties are not involved. Also, I can't believe how tall this woman is.

Sator ( the main villain) is wasted I mean the writers could have done more with him after learning his backstory. This guy is scary I say that because of his motivation for what he's doing.

I'm sorry but I can't think of one thing I like about this movie. Overall this is not the best movie that deals with time, I don't think it's terrible but it could have been better. I know Mr. Nolan worked on getting this movie on screen for years, however, If I can understand how time works in his other films better than this one then something is not right. I wouldn't even recommend this to Horologist.
