Batman 1989: this movie should have been called The Joker, because this movie is center on the joker. This movie was stylish and entertaining but that’s it, it wasn’t about anything and we don’t learn anything about batman, the Joker or any other characters. This movie is full of plot holes, I mean if this movie was a person and plot holes were zits then his or her face would be covered with zits. I like how mysteries Batman is, however I wish he was more of a detective, stealthier and intimidating. The supporting characters were annoying they didn’t do anything useful, especially the love interest all she did was scream. I do like Mr. Nicholson as the Joker however I didn’t understand how he won an Oscar for this role; I mean it not hard to do physical comedy that what he did. Yes! He does kill people however he is not scary or demented, it hard for me to care that the Joker do things if I don’t know what motives him what does he want?
a line from the movie Vick: What do you want? Joker: my face on the one dollar bill. Wow he could have said anything like. me: What do you want? Joker: A happy meal, no a flat screen no no a lap dance where did that come from?
This movie could have been better if it had a story, what brother me about this movie is that people compare this to other Batman movies that not fair that like comparing LeBron James to Michael Jordon. I will give them credit they tried to make a mature Batman film and without this film we wouldn’t have other Batman films plus the animated series.

Batman Returns: You can say whatever you want about Batman and Robin I rather watch that than watch this because that movie didn’t make me feel dead inside like this movie did. The plot is this the penguin who I thought was going to be the main villain wants revenges on Gotham City for reasons that makes no sense. The actually main villain uses the penguin as part of his plan to destroy Gotham so Batman has to stop them. One question why is this movie called Batman Returns? I mean Batman didn’t go anywhere plus he just in the movie because his name is in the title so again why is this title Batman Returns? This film had the same problems the previous film had like it not about anything, continuity issues and the villains have no motivations, I mean when it comes to movie base on comic book characters I am tired of insanity being a villains motivation it not a good or deep motivation. Also Selina Kyle/Catwoman is in this movie too however she is useless and how she is portrayed might offend women. I didn’t mind this take on the penguin however I was bother by how sick and disturbing he was in this movie. This movie could have been better if they made the penguin the main villain and sympathetic.

Batman Mask of the Phantasm: Before Mr. Nolan’s Batman films came out this is the only good Batman film. This movie is about a mask vigilante called the Phantasm killing mobsters and the police mistake this person for Batman, so Batman have to figure out who the Phantasm is plus being a wanted man. One of the many things I liked about this movie is they made Batman a love story, something that the other films didn’t do a good job of. Also this film had a good leading lady, that sad because this is an animated film. There was one part of the story that I had a problem with, because that part undermines Batman’s motivations. If I had a list of films that are overlooked this is one of them, I would recommend this if you like mystery films.

Batman Forever: Warner Brother’s studios wanted a batman film that will attract kids because parents complain that Batman Returns was too dark plus nothing in that movie made any sense, which was the mistake Batman is not for kids. Robin was created in the comics to attract younger reads, if you want a kid friendly Batman film rant the 1966 Batman. The plot involves Harvey Dent/Two Face want revenge on Batman why I didn’t, meanwhile another villain called the Riddler invents a device that will control the minds of Gotham’s citizens Batman has to stop him plus deal with his issues. This movie is too different from the first two movies to be consider a sequel to the first two films. Why didn’t Tommy Lee Jones and Jim Carry win an Oscar for playing villains, I mean they mimic Mr. Nicholson performances as The Joker so why didn’t the get an Oscar? The casting of Dick Grayson/ Robin bothers me because I don’t know how old he was suppose to be in this movie and the actor playing him is a grow man, also he didn’t serve a propose in this movie he’s just fan service. Why is Two Face in this movie, I mean The Riddler made Two Face look useless so what’s the point of putting him in the movie? The love interest in this movie really made me mad because there was a scene with her in it that gave me the impression that she wasn’t going to be the damsel in distress, and the subplot involving her was a waste. The good thing I can say about this movie is they tried to make Bruce Wayne/Batman a character. Another thing that bothers me about this film is that it had potential to be good, Instead of focusing on the subplots in the movie they made this film marketable to kids.

Batman and Robin: What can I say about this movie that already have been said? The plot is that Mr. Freezes and Poison Ivy wants to freezes Gotham City and gave it back to the plant kingdom so Batman and Robin has to stop them, this is not a movie it a two hour long toy commercial written by kids. This is just like the previous movie but worse, yes! There were some comedic elements in that film but there were also so serious moments. Why would they give us four serious batman films and have the last one be the opposite of those films? What really bother me about this movie is I don’t know who the target audience for this movie, I mean I though the ice puns were annoying but sex puns why would they put sex puns in a film that suppose to be a family film? They tried to do the knightwing story but just like the previous film it was overshadow by the film being marketable. I am not completely mad at Mr. Schumacher and everyone else who worked on this film because he did what Warner Brother’s studios hired him to do, plus they realizeshow bad the movie was afterwards. I wish that Warner Brother’s studios apologies for this movie instead of Mr. Schumacher because it was there idea to take the Batman films in this direction in the first place.

Batman Begins: This movie should be used in a writing class called how to revive a franchise? The movie is centered on Bruce Wayne/Batman who left Gotham City fro seven years to do some soul searching after he experiences a traumatic event when he was little. After that he comes back to Gotham to go on a crusade to save his city. This is a classic one person can make a different story. I like how this movie tells batman’s Origin. To me the first half of this film is a remake of his Origin, because this movie answers some of the unanswered question about his origin that the comic books didn’t. Also it gave us a deeper reason why Bruce Wayne became Batman. The down side to this is that it doesn't make him mysterious. Fear was a major theme in this movie. this is something I appreciate about this film because we have a problems having discipline with that emotion. The second half of this movie was batman trying to figure out what the villains are planning. Of course the problem I have with this movie is the leading lady; I will give them credit for not making her completely helpless. This and The Terminator have been overshadowed because of the films that came after them, because of that I feel bad that this films are not on my favorite films list.

The Dark Knight: This movie takes place a year after Batman start his war against crime, with the help for Lt. James Gordon and DA Harvey Dent. Meanwhile a new villain called the Joker make that difficult for them, and put them in a tough position. These three have to figure out how to stop him without making decisions that they will regret later. WOW! I haven't seen a sequel this good since T2. This movie had the same problem that I had with the previous batman films there is no good leading lady. Another problem I had is that Batman didn't use fear against criminals like he did in Batman Begins, however it was tricky for him to do that in some scenes in the movie. The late Heath Ledger’s portray of the Joker is the Joker I have been waiting to see on screen, he was also a good villain because he was so unpredictable. One of the many things I like about this film is that it has social commentary surrounding what Batman, the Joker and the people of Gotham City were doing. I like the message this movie has that message is we shouldn’t rely on one person to fix everything, everyone has a role to play in that.

The Dark Knight Rises: Your kidding I’m I being punk here? What a disappointment this movie was, Warner Brothers and Mr. Nolan shame on y’all how dare y'all wasting my time and money. The plot is this 8 years have passed since the events of The Dark Knight and Gotham has been peaceful since then, meanwhile a new enemy by the name Bane has come to interrupt that peace. So Bruce Wayne despite his condition has to become Batman again and stop this new foe with the help of old and new allies. I can understand the problems that people have with this movie like it too long, batman barely in this movie, intelligent insulting moments and Bane’s voice. The problems I have with this movie involves plot holes, the first act and other parts being rush, I wish that they would expand on two plot points and another plot point being contrived. Another problem I have is the things they did with Bane, I mean they did something that made him less creditable, they change his back story and I didn’t like what happened to him in the last act. This movie is connected and have some similarities to Batman Begins. I don’t understand why Catwoman wasn’t called Catwoman in this movie, and I wish they played the romantic angle between Batman and Catwoman. The things I like about the movie are the character moments, comic book references and some of the theme like legacy, despite the movie didn't do a good job at being about this themes. Basically this movie was complicated, this feels like a rough draft if they follow the five basic writing steps than this could have been an Oscar worthy film. Just like Spider-man 3 and X-men the last stand this should have been two movies because the story is so big. I would recommend this if you like Rocky 3. P.S. the fights between Batman and Bane were disappointing, I wish the fights weren’t shoot so close.
Making a movie trilogy is hard, if the first or second film is successful the writers have to figure out what made it work the same thing go’s for TV shows and video games. Sometimes they play it safe by making the same movie as the previous one but with a few changes, like Home Alone 2, Beneath planet of the apes and The Hangover 2. That was the mistake the key to making a good movie is the element of surprise, we have already seen this in the previous film gave us something new. However nothing we watch is original we have to come up with new ways of telling the story same thing with video games coming up with new ways of playing them, like Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde is similar to The Nutty Professor and The Three Stooges is similar to Tom and Jerry. Also writers borrow elements from the previous movie and put more of it in installed of expanding on them, they have do this in film like Batman and Robin, Transformers revenge of the fallen and The Hangover 2. Another problem with making trilogies is new people getting involved, like new director, cast, writers and producers. I am so outrage with Hollywood because of this, because it seems that they don’t try to make a movie there just being lazy, I mean it seems that they haven’t watch the previous films. It looks like they are taking us for granted that we will watch the movie despite what they do, if they keep this up there will be more boycotts just like the X-men first class boycott hack I'll start one. Another reason I am outrage is because I am tired of them not using the source material when it comes to making films about comic book characters, Hollywood the stories are all ready writing for you I don’t understand how taking a story from the comics and putting it on screen can be so hard. Also there are some movie trilogies that have the same people but not all three films are good, because of this I am starting to think that there is a conspiracy with the media. Another major problems is bring back characters that either been removed or die in the previous film. The reason why this bothers me is because all it does is dimension what happened in the previous. This isn’t a Soap Opera where you bring back Characters just because they was popular, that was the case with these films not because it will sever the story. They have done this in films like Men in Black 2; The Pirate of the Caribbean films, The Hangover 2 thank goodness they didn’t do this in Terminator 2, if a character is die or removed keep it that way. You make a trilogy to continue the story not to make money. Also the problem with trilogies is our expectations, we expect the sequel to be bigger and better than the original just like video games we expect better game play. Sometimes sequels became so much better than the original to the point we don’t talk about them it’s hard to top it, Like Terminator 2, Spider-man 2, Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back and The Dark Knight. Basically these films have Continuity problems, these films aren’t consistent with the continuity that was establish in the first or second film. So far there are three movie trilogies that I like; they are The Bourne films, The Original Star Wars films and the Toy Story films. That’s sad because these films had different directors.
I am getting annoyed with these movie remakes for two reasons; the first reason is that they are remaking movies that are fine to begin with. They remake films like Plant of the apes, King Kong, Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory and The karate kid. Those films had the same problems sequels had it the same film but changed a few details. I hear people say that they are not as good as the original so what the point of remaking them? This shows that Hollywood is running out of ideas, if you are trying to introduce these films to people who weren’t around at the time the films came out why not see them the original? Just like I said about there should be rules when making a trilogy there should be rules in making a remake, one rule should be is to get people who have see the original something new and people who haven’t interested in see the movie. They tried to get people interested in seeing these films with specials effects, but that’s the problem we see special effects all the time. Besides what is Hollywood telling us all you need is special effects to make a movie, last I check you need characters and a stories to make movie as long as you have those things you can look past how bad the effects look at the time. So far there are two examples that I can think of and they are Terminator 2 and Batman Begins. Terminator 2 had the same plot as the previous film however there was more going on in the screenplay, plus they recycle some scenes in the first film but did them differently. Batman Begins got people who are not familiar with batman interested in this movie by telling his origin story on screen, yes! They have done this before however they told the story differently, they did this by giving Bruce Wayne/Batman a different motivation to become Batman, a deeper reason why he dress as a bat and answer some of the unanswered question that the comics didn’t answer. The second reason why remakes annoy me is that instead of remaking films that was already good why not remake films that were bad, so far that have done that with Judge Dredd and The Hulk. I would like to see a remake of the Star Wars prequels. Basically going to watch these movies is a waste of time and money because if you see the original than you already know what’s going to happen from beginning to end.
My review of Marvel films that lead up to the Avengers
Iron Man: This film is about Tony Stark/Iron Man changing his image after the ordeals he went thought in the beginning of the film. This is a fun movie I wish that the writers could have focused on the story like they did with the main character. I was surprised that people liked Tony Stark/Iron Man for three reasons. First he makes weapons enough said, second he’s wealth how can we relate to someone that is rich? Third he’s arrogant that's an annoying character trade to have, however the writers use it for some of the humor in the movie. This movie borrows an element from Batman Begins both files center on a Protagonist build an alter ego plus rebuilding themselves. I wish the fight in this movie would last longer. Another problem I had is the villain should have been smarter.
Rating = Worth seeing
The Incredible Hulk: The plot is this Bruce Banner/Hulk tries to find a cure for his condition, meanwhile an army lead by General Thunderbolt Ross is chasing him because General Ross want to turn the Hulk into a weapon. Basically this is about a man who can't get a break, also him having to deal with isolation. There are some references to the 1978 Hulk show; however we don’t learn anything about Bruce or other characters in this movie. This movie dealt with control, this film would be better if some of the elements from Ang lee’s Hulk film were in this movie. This movie had a good fight despite it looked like a video game. I would recommend this if you like monster movies, because this movie remind me of the first Godzilla movie.
Rating = Average
Iron Man 2: Marvel Studios did you learn anything from Spider-man 3? I mean this movie had some of the same problems that movie had like too many subplots, characters and trying to be about a word just by having the characters say it a few times. The plot is this 6 month had passed since the first Iron man film and Political leaders wants the Iron man suit, meanwhile Ivan Vanko/Whiplash who was suppose to be the main villain wants revenge on Tony stark/ Iron man for reasons that makes no sense. The characters didn’t do anything useful in this movie and the last act was a video game and that’s it, this film was more of a comedy then an action/adventure film. What really bothers me about this movie is that they bring a character half way in the film and not tells us anything about this person, I shouldn’t look like I am watching a foreign language film with no subtitles to figure out what the writer is trying to establish isn’t that the writers job? The good things about this movie are Robert Downey Jr and Scarlett Johnson as eye candy, don’t judge me. If I have a list of the worse sequels I have seen so far this would be one of them, I mean half of this movie is a rough draft and the other half is setting up The Avengers movie. This film was one of the many reasons why I didn’t want to see The Avengers movie, This movie could have been better if it didn't have too many characters, Focus on Ivan Vanko/Whiplash as the main villain and focus on Tony Stark/Iron Man dilemma. P.S. if you want to know who the mysteries character is you have to watch the Iron man DVD after the ending credits.

Thor: This film is about Thor the GOD of Thunder who is about to become King of Asgard until an incident happened and his retaliation cost him his powers and to be exile from Asgard. This movie surprised me; I didn’t find Thor interesting in the comics however this movie made him interesting. This was a better coming of age story than The Lion king, the problem I had with that movie was Samba growing as a person came too late for me in the film plus the villain doesn’t have a motivation for what he's doing. This movie could have been better if they develop Thor getting out of his dilemma better. The problem I had with this movie is one of the fights was too short. Also they could have done the love interest better, it seem that she is interested in where Thor came from then him as a person. I would recommend this if you like Richard Donner’s versions of Superman 2, because both films have some similarities.

Captain American The First Avenger: This film is center on a man name Steve Rogers/Captain American who wants to join the Army, but he can’t get in because of his health. Meanwhile a scientist gives him a change by transforming him from skinny to borne. I liked the main character because despite being one dimensional and his size he doesn’t back down for a challenge. I didn’t like the way he was treated before and after he became Captain American. I had problems with the editing; I mean this movie look like it was filmed by two different cameras. Another problem I had is the love interests she is someone that has authority over him, that asking for trouble. Also they could have done a better job of make the love interests more settle.
Rating = Worth seeing
The Avengers: This is another Superhero movie that shouldn’t be considered a Superhero movie because there are on superheroes in this movie, I mean we have two assassins, a man wearing a hi-tech armored suit, a man that turn into a bigger man with green skin, another man with enhance human abilities and a the GOD of thunder. The plot is this Loki the brother of Thor has come to earth to find the tesseract an item that will help him rule the earth, and then an agency called S.H.I.E.L.D. recruits a group of superheroes to help them stop Loki. I was kind of miss lead by this movie, I mean I though they was developing a subplot where Steve Rogers/Captain American was having a hard time adjusting to the 21th Century. This movie would have been better if the Superheroes coming together as a team was done better, them becoming a team seem kind of contrive to me. One of the problems I have with this movie is The Hulk; the Hulk makes the other characters seem useless. Also this movie had the same problem I had with the Transformers films that is having a fighting in the middle of the city; other problems involving plot holes with some of the characters and having too many characters. Overall I enjoyed this film; I wouldn’t have if I wasn’t familiar with Marvel comics because this movie feels like it made for thatdemographic. Despite my problems with The Hulk he is portrayed will here better than his last two movies. This film has a good massage about teamwork, and one character address and issue about what makes a hero. I would recommend this if you like Action/Adventure.
X-Men: I remember this movie being a big deal the year it came out, original this movie was suppose to be release in 1989 but that didn’t happen because the special effects company at that time went bankrupt. This is a classic X-men story. The plot is this Political leader wants to start a mutant restriction act, meanwhile Magneto has a plan to prevent that but it involves harming humans. So the X-Men have to stop him, this movie feels and looks more like a pilot episode than a movie. This complaint is so coma it barely worth managing, I will just say this focus on other characters besides Wolverine. The problems I have is the plot holes, the editing and magneto’s plan, I mean there was a smarter way to stop the restriction act and they showed how towers the end of the film. Another problem I had is that there are moments in this movie where it feels like it was made for X-Men fans. Also I like how they use Wolverine to see this world through the audience eyes.

X-2 X-Men United: This is one of the rare Sequels that blows the original out of the water. The plot is this after a mutant tried to attack the President he wants to bring back the mutant restriction act. Meanwhile a new villain name William Striker plans to kill every mutant so the X-men have to stop him with the help of new allies and foes. I like how they did two villains in this movie. I don’t understand why people compliant that this movie is too center on Wolverine; I mean he is a popular character I though they wouldn’t mind. The problem I have with this movie is Cycle and Professor X gets shifted; the love triangle between Logan/Wolverine, Jean and Scott/Cycle and how one mutant’s parents reacts when they found out that he's a mutant. Despite this film being center on Wolverine it doesn’t make the other characters look useless like in the previous film.
Rating = Worth Seeing
X-Men The Last Stand: Man this movie was a mass; I mean this movie took a step back from what was setup to reach this point especially with the characters. The plot involves Political leader found an anti-bodied that will get reed of mutant’s unnatural abilities it called a cure. Meanwhile Magneto see this as a weapon and tries to talk the mutant’s out of taking the cure and starts a war, so the X-men have to stop him and deal with Jeans new powers. This movie was a waste of potential; this should have been two movies because they took four X-men stories a tried to put it in one film and this movie feels rushed. The things that bother me about this movie once again Cycle and Professor X get shafted, fan service was handled badly and the tone in this movie is different from the first two, I mean it feel like a comic book movie.Another thing that bother me was the battle sequence I mean it looked like the person who directed the battle sequence in the third matrix film directed this one, because both of the battles sequences looks stupid and gives you a headache. Plus what was the point of introducing a new character at the beginning of the film like we know who he is but we don’t? The good thing I can say about this movie that it makes you ask moral and ethical questions like if you had a choice to be like everyone else would you take it does it make you a coward or do you hate yourself? This movie could have been better if they focus on the cure story.
Rating = Trash
X-Men Origins Wolverine: What really disappoint me about this movie is that I thought that Hollywood would do Wolverine right; because he was a popular character and they focus on him in the previous films now I know better. This film is center on Wolverine's backstory we learn how he got his metal claws, his relationship with Sabertooth, Weapon X and so on and so four, the problem is that this movie didn’t do a good job of telling this story plus we didn’t learn anything new about Wolverine that we haven’t learned in the previous films. The title of this movie address the problem with this film it an X-Men movie first and a Wolverine movie second, this movie is an excuse to put X-Men characters that we haven’t seen yet on screen just for fan service not because they will serve the story. Also they mass up another mutant’s backstory and there are head scratching moments in the film. Despite my problems I did enjoyed this more than the previous X-Men film just barely, despite this being a Soap Opera, you can tell the action scenes is done by wire works Wolverine’s claws look fake and one fight look like someone playing a video game.

X-Men First Class: if you like OO7 films you are going to like this. The title X-Men shouldn’t be on this movie, because this was a bad X-men adaptation, prequel and reboot. They should have called it The First Spy Division with super powered Humans, if this is a prequel than there are continuity issues. This film is about Erik Lahnsherr goes on a man hunt to findSebastian Shaw. Meanwhile he meets Charles Xavier and together they tried to stop Sedastian Shaw from starting a war that could whip out humanity with the help of other mutants. I like how they address prejudice in this movie better than the previous ones, because this movie took place in the 1960’s a time where that was severe. Some of us still have that problem of being accepted by others, part of reason is we have double standers. This movie would have ended differently if the characters were smarter. This movie had the same problem as the previous X-Men films like too many characters. I was outrage that the black characters got the cold shoulder; I am getting tired of seeing this especially in Horror films.
